      2. Collection #100: Sonvico, Archivio parrocchiale

With this update, e-codices welcomes collection #100: the Parochial Archive of Sonvico, in the Canton of Ticino. Codice #1 is a late-fourteenth century missal from Northern Italy that was adapted to Sonvico likely at the foundation of the parish in 1419. It served the parish well through the eighteenth century, and major events were recorded on its pages. Around 1900, it was plundered for its miniatures.

      3. Schooltexts from Basel

Also in the update are four scholastic manuscripts from Basel. One is a rare collection of William of Ockham's works, which may have come from the Franciscan Convent. The other three come from the Basel Charterhouse. They feature a copy of the Novus Grecismus, used in teaching basic Latin grammar, and two fifteenth-century commissioned copies of philosophical texts, mostly Aristotle, with glosses made from Thomas Aquinas and Albertus Magnus. One of these also features the last part of Abu Ali ibn Sina's al-Shifa, known in Latin as Avicenna's Metaphysica.

      4. Fragmentology #7

The Center for Manuscript Research – University of Fribourg published today Fragmentology 7 (2024), featuring an array of articles, research notes, project reports, a book review, and a conference report. The volume in particular shows how digital techniques can add valuable perspectives on manuscript study.
